Martha Scanlan Draws Inspiration from Montana on New Album “The River and The Light”

Montana-based singer songwriter Martha Scanlan released her new album The River and The Light on Friday, October 19, 2018.

The 8-song project was produced by guitarist and collaborator Jon Neufeld. This is Martha’s fourth full length album, and her first since 2015’s The Shape of Things Gone Missing, The Shape of Things to Come.

Speaking to Wide Open Country about the new project, Martha said:

“I don’t know where songs come from, or why certain lines or images stay with me the way they do.  When I was living on the ranch, I became really interested in this concept, especially because my world was so quiet and so located in that work and that landscape — the songs seemed to reveal themselves long after I wrote them, and had their own stories to tell over time…”

Scanlan and Neufeld will kick off their upcoming tour with a special Record Release Show at the Top Hat in Missoula on November 1st. Tickets and more info here.
