About Dead Sky

This 6 piece Bozeman band is comprised of 3 vocalists, 2 guitarists, bass, drums and keys who have been playing Grateful Dead tunes together since their 1st show at The Filling Station November 1st, of 2019. The group is made up of musicians who have played together in a variety of local acts for many years; including Pinky and the Floyd, M.O.T.H., Kelly Nicholson Band, Tsunami Funk and the Hooligans. They have overcame many tribulations since they began, including the loss of their founding member Joe Knapp, and have organically grown into one of Bozeman’s most cherished tribute bands.

About Transcendental Express

Transcendental Express is a sonic experience that transcends genre; from jazz to funk to samba, this band seamlessly incorporates it all.

The sultry guitar solos are Santana-esque, the piano & organ work provide a perfect punctuation to an already rich story told through music. The hypnotic saxophone solos take the listener on a voyage through jazz history as they echo elements of various cultures and worlds. The rhythm section, rooted in funk, is the thread holding it all together to complete this truly transcendent experience.

They aim to transcend negativity & bring people together through music. Their mission is to create a space where everyone is welcome, everyone is happy, and everyone is dancing. Each member comes from different backgrounds & beliefs, and that’s why it works. A community is made up of people with a variety of ideas about what’s right and wrong. TE is a community.

Transcendental Express is: Lhanna Writesel – Saxophone & percussion, Kiavash Adibzadeh – Keyboards & organ, Joshua Chai – Drums, Cole Grant – Bass, and Chris Duparri – Guitar.

The Missoulian says Transcendental Express lands “where jazz, funk and fusion meet in a way that’s amenable to rock fans.” We couldn’t agree more.
