MudSlide Charley is a Missoula, Montana band that creates an original and joyous expression of 21st century blues. Their inspiration comes from a more antiquated era, when guys like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker first fused the rough-and-rural vibe of Southern acoustic blues with modern electric instruments. They write songs that exude emotional fervor, and joyous spontaneity. In their songs, you can feel the emotions behind the words belted out. You can hear truth and genuine reverence for the blues musicians who paved their path.
This is a group that grooves. As musicians and individuals, they seem to rise and fall together creating a sound that intertwine so harmoniously one could not imagine a single element lacking. From the gritty electric guitar, elastic bass and chest thumping backbeat to the passionate soulful vocals punctuated by harmonica and sax, MudSlide Charley creates music that makes the limbs feel looser.
In November, 2014, MudSlide Charley released their 3rd CD, New & Used, which peaked at number 22 in the world on the Living Blues Radio Chart in February, 2015. It was the culmination of a year of work honing an artistic statement that is original, yet firmly rooted in the Delta blues, R&B, and Americana that form the musical personality of this band.
