ELECTRO-FUNK ANNOUNCEMENT: GRiZ to Play The Wilma

After an ambitious sprint through festival season, future funk artist GRiZ will return to Missoula for a concert at The Wilma on October 22nd. The headliner is known for his epic blend of funk, jazz, hip hop and electronic. Saxophonist and mastermind Grant Kwiecinski (aka GRiZ) has experienced nothing but rapid increases in recognition over the past years.

The Detroit native released his most recent album in 2016, under his record label: All Good Records. Titled Good Will Prevail, the album is one of the most “organically influenced” projects GRiZ has produced to date. Though Say It Loud features lots of live sampling, his most recent project marks a big leap in Kwiecinski’s musical maturity. The album combines similar sampling with big synth found in early albums; resulting in more intricate melodic structures (Dancing Astronaut Review).

Still ringing with the hip-hop, dubstep, funk, and jazz cross-over, the album explores edgier territory and even emanates a more future house inflection (see Track 8 above; “What We’ve Become”). GRiZ even teamed up with artists like Cherub and Big Gigantic to further expand the album’s stylistic palette. Fans of electronic festivals and concerts should check this energy-charged sonic fusion come October.

A venue presale will be available Thu, Jun 29 from 10a-10p: Sign up here.

Tickets go on sale Fri, Jun 30 at 10:00 AM MDT and will be available online, over the phone at (877) 987-6487, or at The Top Hat’s box office in downtown Missoula.
