With new tour dates stretching all the way to Africa, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley will headline The Wilma on September 24th. Though this member of the Marley family has not played Missoula, his brother Stephen Marley has played both The Top Hat and The Wilma.
The Grammy winner’s most recent album, Stony Hill, is expected this upcoming July 21st. The highly-anticipated album features his collaboration with Stephen called “Medication” (see above). Explaining the title, Damian states
“Stony Hill is a place in Jamaica where I grew up, so it’s kind of paying homage to my upbringing,”
Nodding to societal problems, the album is anticipated to carry on the Marley legacy with sharp political narrative and musicianship. Of course, the music also contains the transcendent good reggae vibrations.
Tickets for Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley at The Wilma will go on sale at 10:00 AM MDT on Friday, June 30 and will be available online, over the phone at (877) 987-6487, or at The Top Hat’s box office in downtown Missoula. More information on the performance can be found here.
