Fueled by Lagunitas, the tour features some of the most lively and fresh ensembles from three different regions of the country. Each night is different and the sets are fused with cross-band collaboration and jamming between. The show will represent the new directions that Americana, Folk and Bluegrass are taking, each influenced by their regional culture.

The Lil Smokies

The Lil Smokies hail from Missoula and are known for packing local venues with progressive-acoustic bluegrass sound. The group recently won the 2016 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards’ “Momentum Award for Best Band” and released their sophomore album, Changing Shades.

The quintet’s last headlined The Wilma in 2015 with a Sold Out New Years Eve Performance: a venue they steadily grew into after playing the corner at the farmer’s market. Missoula is very excited to welcome this now nationally-touring ensemble home.

The Brothers Comatose

The Brothers Comatose, who played The Top Hat in 2015, are a 5-piece San-Francisco based bluegrass ensemble. Their sound is far from traditional acoustic bluegrass. Channeling the Beach Boys in their vocal harmonies, adding fiery finger-picking, and rowdy bluegrass energy; they produce an incomparable live performance.

The group often covers rock groups, in addition to three, full-length albums of original material. Check out the video above for their cover of Cake’s Stickshifts and Safetybelts.

Mipso

The furthest from home out of the 3-groups is North-Carolina’s indie Americana unit, Mipso. The quartet applies progressive indie vibes, to a more Appalachian inspired Americana. The September date will be Mipso’s first performance in Missoula.

Fun Fact: Rolling Stone magazine rated Mipso as their favorite 2016 Delfest Performance

They are currently touring in support of their 2017 album Coming Down The Mountain. The album rests at the intersection of modern alt-country and Americana folk, straying from their original string-picking pedigree.

Tickets for the Campfire Caravan Tour featuring The Lil Smokies, The Brothers Comatose, and Mipso at The Wilma on Thursday, Sept 28th will go on sale Friday, Aug 4th at 11AM MDT. They will be available online, over the phone (877) 987-6487, or at The Top Hat’s box office in downtown Missoula.
