Today at age 27, GRiZ (or Grant Kwiecinski, to his mom) is coming off a massive 2016 with no signs of slowing down. His latest release, “Good Will Prevail” (via his All Good Records imprint) debuted at #1 on the electronic charts while simultaneously being available for free download — Following up his previous releases, Say It Loud, Rebel Era and Mad Liberation. A nationwide fall tour saw the artist headlining some of the countries top venues from sold out concerts at Chicago’s Navy Pier, to the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Detroit Masonic Temple in his beloved hometown. Just this year alone, the sax man released six singles that all claimed the coveted #1 spot on Hype Machine’s most popular charts. GRiZ is gearing up for another monumental festival season and preparing to make 2017 his biggest year yet.
With engines in high gear, both fans and critics alike have all caught wind what GRiZ has been throwing down. Billboard has called the music “brilliant” with DJ Mag clamoring “more than all good – it’s great!” GRiZ has become a champion of the live electronic landscape; effortlessly blending improvised saxophone, guitar, vocals and more over booming bass lines, hard drops, and some of the most creative transitions in the game. It’s no surprise that GRiZ’s show stealing performances have reached the main stages at festivals ranging from Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza to Electric Forest, Outside Lands & more!
Most recently, GRiZ has turned his attention back on his hometown of Detroit. After numerous sold out concerts, the artist has started a fundraising effort with the help of his street team and dedicated fan base. In 2016 alone, they collective raised over $50,000 for Little Kids Rock – an amazing organization that helps fund music education within public schools. Together with the help of LKR and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, GRiZ and All Good Records are working to provide Detroit’s youth with the music education they deserve. GRiZ’s fundraising efforts do not end with the city of Detroit. The artist is an active philanthropist regularly using his platform to raise awareness and funds for a variety of causes; from The ACLU to local food banks and dog shelters.
So what’s next? More great music, massive performances and even more surprises that to come along the way. In addition to building his own brand, GRiZ will continue to develop artists that inspire him under his self-run record label All Good Records. Speaking of growing – if you find yourself in Colorado, you might want to check out “GRiZ Kush”, the artist’s own cannabis cup award winning strain of weed; sold legally at dispensary’s throughout the state. All things considered, bring on the next chapter. GRiZ is ready.
