3 Down, 15 to Go: KettleHouse Amphitheater Photo Recap

The second season at KettleHouse Amphitheater is well underway with the first three shows bringing in an eclectic mix of fans and music.

Check out the three show recap below.

Bon Iver

On May 31st, Grammy Award winning indie folk artist Bon Iver performed to a sold out crowd of over 4,000 people. It was a cloudy, rainy day,  with a thunderstorm looming, but the show triumphantly went on. At one point, front man Justin Vernon expressed his respect for the crowd and overtly stated that they’d be skipping their set break to continue playing for the wet, yet enamored audience.

The Flaming Lips

On June 4th, Grammy Award winning psychedelic rock band The Flaming Lips came in true form, bringing with them all the bells & whistles… or rather all the giant mushrooms & balloons. The show was a spectacle to say the least, complete with an extravagant array of shimmering lights and bandleader Wayne Coyne walking across the crowd in a human sized bubble. At one point, an ode to the Garden City was displayed by a massive balloon sign reading “F#!k Yeah Missoula.” The show also included an awe inspiring rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”

Slightly Stoopid

On June 7th, the Amphitheater hosted its first night of reggae music featuring Cali-based dub rockers Slightly Stoopid with support from Stick Figure and Pepper, plus a special guest appearance from Don Carlos.  It was the first show of their 2018 School’s Out For Summer Tour. A couple of fans made for the perfect photo op, as we captured them shortly after they became engaged! The main highlight came towards the end of the performance when members of Stick Figure and Pepper joined Stoopid on stage for an all out super jam.
