Tauk Unveils Shapeshifter II: Outbreak and Debuts Sci Fi Video for “Recreational Outrage”
Instrumental, progressive rock band Tauk released their new album Shapeshifter II: Outbreak on Friday, September 28, 2018.
The LP is fueled by the band’s signature blend of rock, hip-hop, & jazz — this time building a sound that tells a sonic story of artificial intelligence and its potential to upend our world.
“It’s refreshing to hear a contemporary act of this caliber that doesn’t adhere to a single genre but, instead, creates its own.” – Keyboard Magazine
This is the follow up to their EP Shapeshifter I: Construct, which was released earlier this year. Outbreak continues where its predecessor’s narrative left off, and broadens the band’s palette to include an array of synths and programmed effects. The sci-fi influence is thick throughout the album, making the dystopia-laden animated video for “Recreational Outrage” a perfect pairing.
“Fans of earlier New York City bands such as Screaming Headless Torsos, Gutbucket, and John Zorn’s Naked City will not be disappointed.” – PopMatters
Tauk is bringing their futuristic soundscapes to the Top Hat in Missoula on November 6th, as they tour across the country in support of the fresh project. More concert info here.
