Folk duo Mandolin Orange will release their new album Tides of A Teardrop on February 1, 2019.  The North Carolina act have built a steady and growing fanbase with a sound that radiates a mysterious warmth, and by all accounts, Tides of A Teardrop will be the duo’s fullest, richest, and most intimate effort yet.  Singer-songwriter Andrew Marlin and multi-instrumentalist Emily Frantz have honed this lamp glow intimacy for years.

Written mostly by Marlin, the new album confronts a defining loss head-on: Marlin’s mother, who died of complications from surgery when he was 18. Marlin said “I’ve been holding on to the grief for a long time. In some ways I associated the grief and the loss with remembering my mom. I feel like I’ve mourned long enough. I’m ready to bring forth some happier memories now, to just remember her as a living being.”

Mandolin Orange have been touring across the globe for the past decade, hitting big festivals like Austin City Limits, South-by-Southwest, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Pickathon, and Merlefest. Their first album Quiet Little Room came out in 2010 and they’ve since released four more with 2016’s Blindfaller being the most recent
