Moon Hooch previously played in Missoula when they opened up for Beats Antique in 2015 which earned them a headlining concert at the Top Hat in 2017. The latter was nearly sold out and was one of the Top Hat’s most exuberant shows of 2017.

The NYC-band is comprised of drummer James Muschler, and horn players Mike Wilbur and Wenzl McGowen. Together, the three of them put out an intoxicating sound that blends elements of virtuosic jazz, groovy funk, and pulse-pounding electronic dance music.

Since their humble days of busking on subway platforms in New York, Moon Hooch has released 3 highly praised studio albums (Moon Hooch, This Is Cave Music, Red Sky) and have been wowing concertgoers across the globe. They’ve been hailed by NPR as “unhinged” and “irresistible,” praising each musician’s “remarkable abilities” and naming their Tiny Desk Concert one of the best in the prestigious series’ history.

Speaking about their live performances McGowen told The Guardian “We’ve definitely stuck with the underground, raw energy feel. We want our shows to be crazy dance parties.”
