Mandolin Orange Previews New Album with Release of “The Wolves”

Folk duo Mandolin Orange have just unveiled their new track, “The Wolves,” the third single off their forthcoming album, Tides of A Teardrop, due out Feb. 1st.

The North Carolina act, consisting of singer-songwriter Andrew Marlin and multi-instrumentalist Emily Frantz, have built a steadily growing fanbase with a sound that radiates a mysterious warmth. Based on the three singles released off the new album, Tides of A Teardrop will be the duo’s fullest, richest, and most intimate effort yet.

Written mostly by Marlin, the new album confronts a defining loss head-on: Marlin’s mother, who died of complications from surgery when he was 18. Marlin said “I’ve been holding on to the grief for a long time. In some ways I associated the grief and the loss with remembering my mom. I feel like I’ve mourned long enough. I’m ready to bring forth some happier memories now, to just remember her as a living being.”

Touring in support of their new album, Mandolin Orange will be stopping through Missoula for a headlining concert on March 12, 2019. Details here.
