You can think of Clark as one of the last of the real rock gods, along with fellow master singer/guitarists like Jack White, John Mayer, or the late, great Prince and the new album certainly won’t do anything to diminish that perception. But This Land is also a great soul record — one in which it’s easy to hear the lineage that connects Muddy Waters and Childish Gambino, with distinct nods to Marvin Gaye somewhere in the middle.

The Texas native will release his third studio album, This Land, on March 1, 2019 via Warner Bros. Records. It will be his first studio record since 2015’s The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. His first album Blak And Blu  peaked at #6 on Billboard 200 and featured “Ain’t Messin Round” which was nominated for a Grammy in 2013. Then, in 2014, he won his first Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance with the song “Please Come Home.”

Clark won 8 awards at the 31st annual Austin Music Awards including Band of the Year, Musician of the Year, Song of the Year – “Ain’t Messin Round” (from Blak and Blu), Album of the Year – Blak and Blu, Electric Guitarist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Blues/Soul/Funk Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year. In 2014 and 2015, Clark won a Blues Music Award in the ‘Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year’ category.

“A genuine 21st -century bluesman, raised on the form in all its roughneck roadhouse glory but marked by the present day? That’s been as hard to find as a 21st century clockmaker.” – Rolling Stone
