Hansard has received several accolades, including both Grammy awards and Academy Awards. In 2007, he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly.” The song is from the film Once, in which Hansard costars alongside Markéta Irglová. The two of them wrote “Falling Slowly” together as a part of the folk duo, The Swell Season.

Later in 2008, Hansard was Grammy nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Song Written for Motion Picture for Once and “Falling Slowly” respectively. His work on Once was again recognized when he won Best Musical Theater Album for Once, the musical.

In 2016, his second solo album, Didn’t He Ramble, was Grammy nominated for the Best Folk Album. Exclaim! gave the album 9 out of 10 stars, saying, “Didn’t He Ramble shimmers, saunters and charms; Hansard has never sounded so good.”

Now, Glen Hansard is gearing up for his fourth album, This Wild Willing, slated to drop on April  12, 2019. It is an album guided and formed by the twin totems of resolve and surrender — the resolve to see a thing through alongside a willingness to surrender, to trust in that which lies outside yourself — the other musicians in the room, your lover, your healer, your audience.
