Certified Guitar Player: Tommy Emmanuel to Headline Missoula Concert with Jerry Douglas
Award winning Australian guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, will perform a headlining concert at the Wilma on Friday, August 9, 2019 with very special guest Jerry Douglas.

Tommy is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s best solo acoustic guitarists and is particularly known for his unique fingerstyle guitar playing technique. It encompasses the range of a whole band– covering drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitar and a vocal melody simultaneously. No loop pedals, no overdubs, just one man and ten fingers. While some artists take ten-piece bands on the road and still fill out the sound with backing tracks, Tommy builds a complete sonic world entirely on his own.
His high energy live performances continue to sell out shows from Nashville to Sydney to London. All the while, he continues to be prolific in the studio, putting out quality albums year after year. His 2018 project, Accomplice One, featured collaborations with some of the finest singers, songwriters, and guitarists alive today – including Jason Isbell, Mark Knopfler, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Douglas, Amanda Shires, Ricky Skaggs, J.D. Simo, David Grisman, Bryan Sutton, Suzy Bogguss and many more.
Tommy has been Grammy nominated, has won two Country Music Awards of Australia and two Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards among many other nominations. He’s also been named “Best Acoustic Guitarist” in Guitar Player Magazine’s readers poll and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.
Dobro master and 14-time Grammy winner, Jerry Douglas, is to the resonator guitar what Jimi Hendrix was to the electric guitar, elevating, transforming, and reinventing the instrument in countless ways. Additionally, Douglas is a freewheeling, forward-thinking recording and touring artist whose output incorporates elements of country, bluegrass, rock, jazz, blues, and Celtic into his distinctive musical vision.
