The Seed: Missoula Heavy Rockers Fates Fortune Announce Album Release Concert and Drop New Single

Up and coming, Missoula-based melodic metal band, Fates Fortune, will celebrate the release of their second LP with an Album Release Party at the Top Hat on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Along with the show announcement, Fates Fortune have released the new single “War Cry.”

The new song is the first preview of their forthcoming sophomore effort, Fate’s Fortune II: Ember Skieswhich will official drop July 19th, the day before the Top Hat concert.

The band said the album is about “walking into the fire of your own destiny, burning away what no longer serves you, so that we may rise from the ashes. It’s powerful both vocally and musically, we can rewrite our stories and drop the veil.”

Guitarist and founding member Joshua Rhines recorded, mixed and mastered the album at his studio, Sound West Studios. Josh also writes most of the music, while vocalist Brooke Beighle writes the lyrics, and the band collaborates on the arrangements and grooves. Josh said, “We wrote most of the album in the studio, and often the song would be recorded before we would rehearse it as a group. This was a fun and new way for us to write the tunes.”

Josh continued about the sound of the album saying, “Sonically, we explore music written primarily on extended range instruments (7 string guitars and 5 string basses). Sometimes it is heavy, sometimes it’s groovy. Sometimes dark, sometimes amped up. We took careful care when it came to composing and recording the songs, focusing in on good tones on the instruments and voice to create the perfect atmosphere for the tunes.”

Brooke said the lyrics are a “focused emotional roller coaster,” adding “We cover various themes, like love, death, struggle, and finding yourself. It’s not a concept album, but it is more focused in sound and writing than our first album. We’re very proud of our upcoming release.”

Bassist Dan Molgaard added, “We aimed to mix melody, rhythms and heavy instrumentation. While the music style isn’t new to any of us, we pushed ourselves to write bigger, better and more complicated tunes.

Drummer Collin Scott summed up the album, saying “it’s loud, it’s heavy, but it’s also melodic. It gets me amped up, but also gives me peace. We’re very excited to share the new album.”

The album release show will also feature hard-hitting riffs from Missoula-based heavy metal band, Ceres. Two heavy bands for a free show on a summer Saturday night. It should be one to remember!
