The band’s name is a reference to their sound — one that is based on hard rock songs with good melodies, but also crunchy guitars and propulsive metal rhythms.

They released their first album Lipstick on the Mirror in 2008, which featured the popular songs “Hero”, “Somebody Like You”, “100 in a 55”, and “Stepping Stone.” 2013’s Onyx did very well for the band, debuting #39 on Billboard 200. It contained the single “Trenches” which was the band’s first national number one single on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

In 2018, Pop Evil released their self titled album, which incorporates metal, alternative, hard rock and even electronic music. It’s a “no filler” 11-track LP that stems from 30 demos. Describing the feel of the album, and the overall goal of Pop Evil’s music, frontman Leigh Kakaty said “Look, we can make heavy songs that really rock and we can also write catchy songs that someone who likes Pearl Jam or Led Zeppelin can get into.”

“…it’s a disc that will make you want to “rewind, start again” and enjoy repeated listens.” – Loudwire
