Influential and experimental sludge/grunge rockers, the Melvins, will perform live at the Top Hat on September 16, 2019 with support from Redd Kross.
Formed in the early 1980s, the Melvins were one of the first bands to introduce a slow and heavy style of rock — one that has been very influential in genres like grunge, doom metal and stoner rock. They’ve been a prolific band, releasing dozens of albums and covering a broad scope of sounds.
In 2017, Metal Injection ranked Melvins at number 2 on their list of “10 Heaviest Grunge Bands.” Rolling Stone’s list of the “50 Greatest Grunge Albums,” included two Melvins’ LPs — 1991’s Bullhead and 1993’s Houdini.
The band currently consists of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven Shane McDonald, and Jeff Pinkus.
