REK sold out the Top Hat in 2015 and played to a sold out crowd at the Wilma in 2018 with friend and collaborator Lyle Lovett. This time around REK is coming to Missoula during a red hot week for Americana music. Concerts from Patty Griffin, Lyle Lovett, Whiskey Myers, Jamestown Revivial, and Greensky Bluegrass are all within just a few days of each other.
Robert Earl Keen recorded his first album in 1984, and has gone on to release 17 more albums. He’s regarded as one of the Lone Star State’s most treasured singer-songwriters. He was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012.
In 2015, Robert Earl Keen was recognized as the first recipient of BMI’s official Troubadour Award. He’s also an active member of NARAS and was invited to be a participant in the prestigious “Grammys On The Hill” where he sang the National Anthem at the opening ceremony and was a member. Recently he began the Americana Podcast: The 51st State — a platform dedicated to sharing and expanding on the Americana genre’s roots, reach, and definition.
