House. Funk. Soul. Rock. BoomBox Confirms Montana Concerts
House-infused, psychedelic soul funk band BoomBox will make their highly anticipated return to Montana with two shows early 2020. They’ll be at the Top Hat in Missoula on February 5th and the Rialto in Bozeman on February 6th. Both shows will include support from ETHNO, a side project from Thievery Corporation’s Jeff Franca.
Since first emerging in 2004, founder, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Zion Rock Godchaux has been quietly seasoning and simmering this recipe to perfection. However, it reaches a boiling point on his 2018 album, Western Voodoo.
Over the course of five albums, the group has become a streaming favorite with numerous tracks cracking a million plays on Spotify. Moreover, they’ve made audiences groove everywhere from Electric Forest and Hangout Music Festival to High Sierra Music Festival and Red Rocks.
In the spring of 2019 Zion enlisted his “brother from the same mother” Kinsman MacKay to embark on BoomBox’s most exciting configuration to date. “There’s a special kind of chemistry between two brothers playing music together,” Zion explains. “Since 2003 we’d get together and make tracks just for fun, and realized we had a strong connection in the studio.”
Fun fact: Zion and Kinsman’s mother is Donna Godchaux, who was a singer in the legendary Grateful Dead from 1972-1979.
Tickets are on sale now at the Top Hat, online or by phone at 1 (800) 514-3849. Complete details and purchase links in the event pages below.
