Rebelution Will Return to Montana with Steel Pulse, The Green, and Keznamdi
Grammy nominated reggae rock band Rebelution will return to KettleHouse Amphitheater on August 26, 2020 with support from Steel Pulse, The Green, Keznamdi and DJ Mackle. This talent packed bill features a perfect balance of reggae stemming from California, Hawaii, the UK and Jamaica… it’s bound to be another epic night of reggae on the Blackfoot River. Rebelution has delivered some great shows the past two years at the Amp, as you can see from these photo galleries.
Santa Barbara-based Rebelution has been headlining festivals and playing to sold out crowds for nearly 15 years. Their 2016 release, Falling Into Place, received a Grammy nomination for “Best Reggae Album” and was their fourth release to top the Billboard reggae chart — remaining on the chart for over a year. 2018 saw them release their sixth studio album, Free Rein. The musicians collaborated with Jamaican artists on three of the 12 new tracks. Don Corleon (Sean Paul, Rihanna) produced “Rise On Top,” and Winta James, producer for Damian Marley and Chronixx, worked with the band on “Settle Down Easy” and “City Life.”
For over four decades, Steel Pulse has been a dominant force in the roots reggae music scene. The Birmingham, England-bred band released their 1978 debut album Handsworth Revolution to critical acclaim. Their 1984 album, Earth Crisis, featured hits like “Roller Skates” and “Steppin Out,” which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Recording. Steel Pulse made history in 1987 when they became the first non-Jamaican reggae band to win a Grammy for Best Reggae Album for their LP, Babylon The Bandit. They went on to be nominated for Grammy’s for their albums Victims, Rastafari Centennial, Rage and Fury, Living Legacy, African Holocaust, and most recently, their 2019 release Mass Manipulation.
Since forming on O’ahu, Hawai’i, in 2009, The Green has become one of the most successful and beloved bands in the reggae genre. They were awarded Best Reggae Album from iTunes for their 2010 self-titled debut LP. They received four coveted Na Hoku Hanohano awards in their native Hawai’i (2011 and 2014, including Group of the Year, two different Reggae Albums of the Year and Entertainer of the Year). Two of their songs made #1 Billboard Reggae chart debuts and charted on the Billboard Top 200.
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Keznamdi dropped the Skyline Levels, Vol. 1 EP in 2017 and headlined his own sold out tour, packing venues everywhere. Calling the project Skyline Levels proved important as that’s how he defines his music. He notably shot the video for “Father Protect Me” in South Central Los Angeles, telling a powerful story. Next up, the project’s triumphant single “Victory” [feat. Chronixx] scored over 1.2 million YouTube views and half-a-million streams. On its heels, “So Right” amplified the impact among fans as he embarked on tour with his full band.
