This Week in Entertainment: December 19th thru December 25th

Happy Holidays! It’s a lighter week ahead, but we still have free local shows at the Top Hat and Rialto, and our beloved Montana-bred comedian/musician Reggie Watts returns to Missoula!

Take a look at this week’s lineup below.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19TH
Aaron Golay at the Top Hat

Aaron Golay is arguably one of the most powerful voices in the Northwest. His sound is soulful Roots-Rock and Roll with plenty of upbeat Pop and Dance influences seamlessly tied in. Backed by his outstanding band (The Original Sin) and with the recent release of his first solo album (DOWN IN HELL), and brand new single (HOLD ON) you’ll want to keep an eye out for his next performance.

710 Ashbury at the Top Hat

710 Ashbury at the top hat

710 Ashbury is a 4 piece band from Helena, Montana committed to preserving the legacy of the Grateful Dead. The members of 710 are all long standing musicians in the Helena music scene and all committed to improvisational music. We all know there is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert but we can capture the enthusiasm and spirit…and we’ll keep working on it until we get it just exactly perfect.

Saturday, December 21st
Reggie Watts at the Wilma

For the past several years, Montanans have looked forward to Reggie’s Christmastime performance in Missoula. Check out the photos from a couple of his past shows here. His internationally acclaimed beatboxing and live comedy performances continue to wow audiences. Using his formidable voice, looping pedals, and his vast imagination, Reggie blends and blurs the lines between music and comedy. No two performances are the same and to that end, ”genius” is the word most often used to describe Reggie Watts.

LA Weekly crowned him ”the most wildly inventive new talent of the past five years” while New York Magazine hailed Reggie as “Spectacularly original,” Rolling Stone featured him as “Hot Comedian,” SPIN named him as “Best New Comedian” and the LA Times praised Reggie is “a superstar.” Rolling Stone also listed him as one of the “50 best stand-up comics of all time”.
