According to their bio, the Aussie rockers have one main goal in mind: a desire to melt faces clean off. Surely, that is proven on their 15th and most recent album, Infest The Rats’ Nest, which was released just six months after their uplifting blues-rock album Fishing For Fishes. The new album is the sound of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard scratching the thrash metal itch. As Pitchfork noted, “they’re not afraid to push their sound to its most playful and punishing extremes.”
The band has been prolific to say the least, releasing 15 albums in just 7 years, including 5 in 2017 alone. They’ve headlined festivals and received international critical acclaim, making them arguably the world’s most innovative, important and productive rock band. And – perhaps most importantly – they’ve garnered a fervent worldwide fanbase who share endless memes, mixes, videos, graphics, theories and discussions, all through which they explore and expand what they have termed ‘The Gizzverse’.
The Gizz’s lineup has remained the same since their start in 2010, consisting of Stu Mackenzie (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, flute), Ambrose Kenny-Smith (vocals, harmonica, keyboards), Cook Craig (guitar, bass, vocals), Joey Walker (guitar, bass, keyboards, vocals), Lucas Skinner (bass, keyboards), Michael Cavanagh (drums, percussion), and Eric Moore (drums, percussion, management).
