Los Angeles-based hip hop artist Azizi Gibson will return to the Top Hat in Missoula on April 29, 2020.
The traveled rapper is currently based in Los Angeles, but was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He then lived in Singapore and Thailand before moving to the U.S. Gibson dropped out of college and ended up in L.A. where he coincidentally met famed producer, Flying Lotus. Soon after, Gibson was signed to Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label, which released his 2013 mixtape, Ghost in the Shell.
The next year he followed with the Backwards Books EP and released his first proper full-length album, Prehistoric Till Death, in 2015. His second album, A New Life, surfaced in spring of 2016 followed by several more albums. His most recent work, Chimera Act, came out on December 13, 2019. Hot New Hip Hop wrote “Chimera Act is able to offer fans an experimental and unique sound without alienating those who don’t want to listen to something too esoteric.”
