Cali reggae giants Rebelution have unveiled their seventh studio album In the Moment via their own label 87 Music and prominent NY-based reggae outlet Easy Star Records.
In the Moment is the followup to Rebelution’s full length, 2018 album, Free Rein, although they also released their Dub Collection in 2020.
Reb’s touring guitarist Kyle Ahern took lead producing the collection and fleshing out many of its arrangements. Recorded remotely during the pandemic, the band pieced tracks together one layer at a time, carefully crafting each song from the ground up with a wide variety of electronic and analog sounds.
The 15-song record includes features from their Jamaican touring partner Keznamdi, as well as Jamaican reggae artists Kabaka Pyramid and Busy Signal. There’s also a track with soul vocalist Durand Jones, who we got to see at the KettleHouse Amphitheater with Rebelution in 2019.
Speaking of the Amp, we’re pretty stoked to have Rebelution return for their third performance later this year on August 26th. Supporting artists include reggae legends Steel Pulse, Hawaii’s The Green, Keznamdi (as we mentioned above) and DJ Mackle. It’s hard to beat a night of world class reggae on the Blackfoot River… so we’ll see ya there!
