Purple Reign: Portland Cello Project Announces Prince Tribute for Montana Concerts

The Pacific Northwest’s esteemed alt-classical ensemble Portland Cello Project confirmed earlier this year that they’d be returning to Montana for two shows in 2022 with a performance at The Wilma on April 12th and The ELM on April 15th. Now they’ve announced that the theme for each show will be Purple Reign — their special take on the music of rock icon — Prince.

“This indie orchestra gives classical music a jolt of energy,” – Spin Magazine

PCP will be joined by musicians who’ve worked with Prince such as Saeeda Wright and Tyrone Hendrix to create a lively evening of diversely-curated music that influenced or was influenced by The Purple One.

“The PCP has come to epitomize Portland’s offbeat music scene, one where boundaries are blurred and cellos are in abundance.” – The Strad

This was originally supposed to be the theme in 2020 but those shows were cancelled. A lot of people were asking if the theme would be Prince related in 2022 but we weren’t sure until now. Thankfully, we’re getting another chance to see this special performance that so many people were looking forward to! Tickets are on sale now so grab them while you can.
