8th Annual FUNKSGIVING Confirmed at The ELM in 2022

groove now available in bozeman

The Grooviest Dance Party of the Year, FUNKSGIVING, is back for its 8th year and will be lighting up the dance floor at The ELM on Friday, November 18, 2022!

Your musical hosts, The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine, will once again be laying down the classics thick ‘n’ creamy, with new songs and super special guests including — all the way from Los Angeles — the electrifying Adryon de León (lead vocalist with Orgone, The New Mastersounds, and many more).

Opening the show will be Bozeman’s own Jess Atkins, who has some funky surprises up his sleeve to get things rolling, and we’re proud to say this year’s nonprofit partner is Bridgercare. So pour into those bellbottoms and start growing out that ‘stache — don’t miss what’s become one of the most anticipated events of the year, at one of the region’s best live music venues! Catch ya on the flip side, at FUNKSGIVING 8.

About Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine

Born out of a few late-night private parties almost ten years ago, The Sweet Groovalicious Funk Machine is made up of musical friends who share a love of good music and good times.

Based in Bozeman, Montana, the band specializes in vintage funk and soul classics — sometimes with a few modern twists — but all designed for your dancing pleasure. Public performances are intentionally rare, but SGFM always hosts Funksgiving, a 70s costume dance party that has become a Bozeman institution.

The core of the band is made up of Jonathon Wilson (keytar, vocals), David Thompson (bass), Brian Crumrine (drums), and Jon Maxwell (guitar). Most recently, the horn section features Jake Fleming (sax), Matt Powell-Palm (sax), and Luca Rodoni (trumpet), and guest vocalists include Bozeman’s oh-so-fabulous Paige Rasmussen and LA-based pro Adryon de León.

About Adryon de León

Adryon de León, born and raised in the tiny artist’s village of Ojai, CA cut her teeth in a Baptist congregation. Over formative years, musical theater infused de León’s life resulting in a unique theatrical, gritty, and soulful sound. Currently, she is a featured principal vocalist/performer for the Disneyland Resort, has performed background vocals for Macy Gray, Patti Austin, The Growlers, and George Clinton. In 2013, she joined the acclaimed Los Angeles-based soul & funk group Orgone. Orgone’s most recent release, Reasons, features tracks spotlighting de León in a main writing and collaborative role.

Mrs. de León also lends her voice to commercial studio sessions worldwide, demoing tracks for production companies in collaboration with Hulu, McDonalds, and more. In Spring 2019, de León appeared as “Alana” in a production of The Little Mermaid: Live-to-Film at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring Lea Michele, Harvey Fierstein , Peter Gallagher, Cheech Marin, and Leo Gallo. Her featured vocals can also be found on the song “If Only You Could Save Me” on the Mank Motion Picture Soundtrack, composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, submitted for Oscar consideration in December 2020.
