
The 22nd Annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival Returns to The Wilma
The 22nd Annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (BSDFF) will once again take over downtown Missoula from Friday, February 14 to Sunday, February 23, 2025, showcasing a world-class selection of independent films.
This year’s festival kicks off at The Wilma on opening night with the Montana premiere of Helen and the Bear. at 7 PM. This intimate documentary follows Helen as she cares for her ailing husband Pete while exploring her own identity. Through poignant footage and Helen’s personal reflections, the film captures their enduring love and the complexities of life’s final chapter.
As one of the largest and most prestigious documentary film festivals in the country, BSDFF will feature over 150 non-fiction films, host 200 visiting artists, and present a wide array of special events. Screenings and activities will take place at historic venues across Missoula, including The Wilma, The Roxy Theater, ZACC Showroom, and the Missoula Community Theater (MCT).
Film enthusiasts and industry professionals alike can also participate in the Big Sky DocShop, a five-day event featuring panels, masterclasses, workshops, and the highly anticipated Big Sky Pitch session.

Passes to the 2025 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival are now available for purchase! A festival pass is the best way to experience this exciting and expansive event. Access the adventure of over 100 films, live performance, special events, industry networking, virtual cinema access, and the spirit of Downtown Missoula, Montana.

Tickets to individual events purchased in advance are available as mobile tickets or Will Call at the screening venue. Seats for pre-purchased ticket holders guaranteed until 10 minutes prior to screening time. Please arrive early or your seat may be released. Barring any unforeseen technical difficulties, SCREENINGS WILL START ON TIME.
Passes purchased in advance can be picked up at Festival Headquarters (ZACC, 216 W Main Street) when the festival begins.
