Whitey Morgan and the 78s Announce Shows in Bozeman & Missoula
Outlaw country band Whitey Morgan and the 78s are bringing their hard-hitting honky-tonk sound to Montana for two shows in 2027, performing at The ELM in Bozeman on Friday, January 29, and the Top Hat in Missoula on Sunday, January 31!
Hailing from Flint, Michigan, Whitey Morgan and the 78s have spent more than two decades carrying the torch for traditional outlaw country, blending gritty vocals, twangy guitars, and road-worn storytelling. Drawing inspiration from legends like Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, the band delivers a no-frills sound built for honky-tonks and late nights. Songs like “Bad News,” “Me and the Whiskey,” and “Sinner” capture their rough-edged take on classic country.
The band has released a string of acclaimed albums, including Sonic Ranch and Hard Times and White Lines, which showcase their blend of traditional country roots and gritty, blue-collar attitude. Whether you’re a longtime fan of outlaw country or looking for a dose of authentic honky-tonk, Whitey Morgan and the 78s bring the kind of live show that hits hard and stays true to its roots.

ABOUT WHITEY MORGAN AND THE 78s
Whitey Morgan spent the first decade of his career raising hell. For the last decade, he’s been raising his son.
In 2026, eight years after his last full-length studio project, Whitey Morgan is back with 11 new songs. With its explosive sound and hard-lived lyricism, Hell On The Highway puts on full display the life that Morgan stepped away from to raise his son, while confronting how that world coexists with the family he’s built.
The end result of Morgan’s collaboration with GRAMMY-Award winning producer Justin Francis has left him more excited than ever about music. There were years when Morgan wouldn’t pick up a guitar at home. His seven-year-old son had never even seen the iconic Telecaster that his father played on stage more than 100 nights a year. “But now, the living room has two drum sets set up in it … and we play guitars and drums all day. When we’re not doing something else, we’re playing music.”
Now, Morgan’s son Wyatt joins his father on tour. The pair can be found riding dirtbikes on an off-day, or skateboarding in a venue alley late into the night. Hell On The Highway finds Morgan raising hell again, this time with his favorite person by his side.
