Acclaimed guitarist and vocalist Jim James and psych-rock dream team The Claypool Lennon Delirium have announced plans for a summer 2019 co-headline tour, which includes a concert at KettleHouse Amphitheater on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Both headlining acts have a bit of history in Missoula. Jim James played the first show at the newly renovated Wilma in 2015 with his Grammy nominated band, My Morning Jacket, and returned in 2016 for a solo performance. The Claypool Lennon Delirium also played at the Wilma in 2016 and Les Claypool performed with his Grammy nominated band, Primus, at KettleHouse Amp in 2017 and 2018.
According to the tour press release, both James and Claypool are equally excited about this summer’s co-bill:
“For over 150 years, the firm of Claypool and Lennon has been providing clients with only the finest in rock and roll delirium and stark raving madness. This summer, I am excited and honored to say that we will be teaming up to offer a brand new twist on one of the most time tested and proven methods for inducing beautifully swirling and whirling delightfully delicious delirium: the healing power of rock and roll!” – Jim James
“Tour pairing is often a challenge in my world but I think we have a good package with The Delirium and Jim James. Jim’s music, from my perspective, is palatable to the masses yet has just enough eclecticism to keep an oddball like me intrigued. I look forward to shambling around the country with him,” – Les Claypool
Both acts are coming off recent album releases. Jim James dropped Uniform Clarity in October 2018, and The Claypool Lennon Delirium just unveiled their sophomore LP, South of Reality, in February 2019.
