Citzen Cope Plans Return to Missoula for Solo Acoustic Performance

Soulful, hip hop-tinged, alternative rock artist Citizen Cope will return to Missoula for a special solo acoustic performance at the Wilma on Friday, May 22, 2020. Cope was last at the Wilma with his full band earlier this year. There are some great photos you can see from the show here.

Citizen Cope is the stage moniker for Washington, DC-based singer-songwriter and producer, Clarence Greenwood. His 2002 self-titled album was certified Gold and contains the hit song “Let The Drummer Kick” which was certified Platinum. He followed in 2004 with The Clarence Greenwood Recordings, which was also certified Gold and includes the popular tracks “Bullet and a Target,” “Son’s Gonna Rise” and “Sideways.” The latter two feature the legendary, Carlos Santana.

Citizen Cope’s most recent album, Heroin and Helicopters, came out early 2019. It featured the lead single “Justice,” which received heavy praise from NPR, saying in a headline that “Citizen Cope Swings For The Fences And Scores…” They continued on about Cope, noting his “…impressive ability to pair deep-felt grooves and a memorable melody with wondrous lyrical simplicity that goes straight to the point and to the heart.”
