The Rialto is pleased to welcome the Bluegrass Showcase live in concert at the Rialto on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

The Bridger Creek Boys

The Bridger Creek Boys are an acoustic Bluegrass band steeped in old-time Bluegrass tradition while pushing the genre with “Newgrass”. The Band mixes originals with covers of traditional bluegrass material (Bill Monroe, Dock Boggs, etc) and more contemporary artists (Greatful Dead, Steve Earle, The Band, etc). The Bridger Creek Boys have spent the past six years bringing their music to audiences in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. The band was a finalist in the 2007 Telluride New Band Competition. They also host the annual Bozeman Bluegrass Festivals. The Bridger Creek Boys are Matt Broughton (Fiddle, Mandolin), Jim Dungan (Guitar, BLues Harp), Tony Polecastro (Dobro, Banjo), and Scott Stebbins (Bass). The line-up features an incredible energy and an outstanding level of playing.

The Lazy Owl String Band

The Lazy Owl String Band is a diverse group of musicians whose influences range from gospel to blues to punk rock. However varied the influences, though, they are undeniably steeped in an old-timey traditional style. The group encapsulates an ethic of hard-driving, whiskey-drinking, and boot-stomping music with infectious energy that is sure to get you moving. The band’s repertoire is heavily rooted in original material that pays homage to the tradition from which it is begotten.

The Fresh Boys

The Fresh Boys consist of a core group and whichever musicians are available at the time of the gig. The core group: Gordon Sevee-guitar, Andrew Schauer-banjo, and Scott Stebbins-bass come formally from Flatt Cheddar. Rotating local bluegrass musicians make up the utility strings spot in the band. Former participants include: James Schlender (an original Fresh Boy) on Fiddle (now touring with Songs from The Road Show), Mike Parsons on Mandolin and Fiddle, Max Davies on Guitar and Vocals, Jim Dungan on Guitar, Mandolin, and vocals, as well as John Schlender on Fiddle. The ever-rotating line up leads to much of bluegrass fun and shenanigans. At The Rialto, opening for Parsonsfield, The Fresh Boys will be joined by the Mandolinist and founding member of the Kitchen Dwellers: Shawn Swain.
