When the world changed in early 2020, the resulting global shutdown meant different things for different artists. Some took to live streaming, others to introspection. Some called it quits altogether. For Missoula’s pop maven Chloe Gendrow, it meant no shows—for nearly 4 years. After a busy 2019 that saw the release of her sophomore album “22 Below,” and performances all over the country, from Washington to California, Montana to Pilgrimage Music Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, the pandemic had different things in mind. What it didn’t stop was her creativity.

Like her heavy, pop punk anthem “This Is What Hell Is Like,” Chloe’s three single releases in 2020 marked an evolution in sound, and a willingness to embrace new genre inspirations, spurred undoubtedly by her partnership with Philly based producer Nick Anthony. They collaborated further in 2021 with the candid and emotional “Antidotes” EP, six heartfelt songs of loss, healing and brutal honesty. They’re themes that Chloe knows well, doing her best work when she plumbs the depths of relationships and melancholy brought upon us by our immersion in the modern world. Time spent working in Alaska has further fueled her exploration into new sonic and thematic territories.

Considering awards like Best of Missoula’s Musician of the Year, and over 17 millions streams across all platforms, it’s clear that Chloe has already accomplished a lot in her young musical journey and has no plans of halting any time soon.
