About The Gallatin County Attorney Candidate Forum

The Gallatin County Bar Association is pleased to present the Gallatin County Attorney Candidate Forum hosted by Missy O’Malley. This event is open to the public and we welcome you to invite friends and family for an evening designed to educate our community about the important role of the Gallatin County Attorney.

On November 8th , Gallatin County residents will vote for the Gallatin County Attorney. The County Attorney plays a significant role in public safety and the day-to-day functions of Gallatin County. The County Attorney is charged with prosecuting crimes, handling abuse and neglect matters, assisting victims, servicing mental health issues, and providing legal advice to departments and local government entities. The County Attorney also oversees the County’s criminal and civil attorneys and staff and set policies that will shape Gallatin County’s future.

Special guest speaker, John Mudd, will kick things off with dialogue on “Independence: Reflections on the Constitution and the Rule of Law in Montana.”

John Mudd is a 5th  generation Montanan and was raised in Missoula. He is a graduate of the University of Montana School of Law. In addition to private practice, John has served in a variety of capacities including as Secretary of the Montana Senate and as Executive Counsel for the Montana Commission of Securities and Insurance. He presently serves as Executive Director and General Counsel for the State Bar of Montana.

Light food fare and cash bar will be provided.

The Gallatin County Bar Association is non-profit association of attorneys licensed to practice law in the State of Montana. The Gallatin County Bar Association’s mission is to improve the administration and access to justice in Gallatin County and the State of Montana, uphold and improve professional and educational standards among its members, and enhance relationships between the public and members of the Bar.
