Hooks for Books is a charitable fly-fishing event benefiting the University of Montana Creative Writing Program. Founded in 2021 by U of M Alumni Tim O’Leary and Chris Dombrowski, to combine their love of literature, fly fishing, and support for the U of M. O’Leary is an entrepreneur and writer, and Dombroski is a renowned poet and fly-fishing guide, the founder of the Beargrass Writing Retreat, and Director of the MFA program.

General Admission tickets are available to the public for the Writers on Water Dinner and Auction, held in conjunction with the Hooks for Books Fly fishing weekend. Your ticket supports the University of Montana MFA program. The evening includes dinner, cocktails, a small auction with amazing trips, art, fishing gear, and the opportunity to meet literary legend John Gierach, one of the most famous fly-fishing writers in history.
