Iron & Wine Releases New Single and Video (Watch)

A long-time Missoula favorite, Iron & Wine will play The Wilma on Tuesday, Oct 17th. The neo-folk artist recently released a new song, “Thomas County Law” with an accompanying video (watch above). The song is quintessential, nearly-acoustic Iron & Wine.

“Displaced from time,”  much like the group’s general tone and aesthetic, the video was directed by J. Austin Wilson. In the black-and-white clip, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine front-man) sets up and carries out what appears to be his own unattended funeral. Wilson also directed the video for the other single release from the album, “Call It Dreaming.”

The October date falls after the planned release of Beast Epic in August 2017. The album is Beam’s most recent, aside from an archive album project. Beam discussed the Beast Epic, saying…

“The rite of passage is an image I’ve returned to often because I feel we’re all constantly in some stage of transition…Where the older songs painted a picture of youth moving wide-eyed into adulthood’s violent pleasures and disappointments, this collection speaks to the beauty and pain of growing up after you’ve already grown up”

Keep an eye out for the album’s release this August and mark your calendar’s for Iron & Wine at The Wilma on Tuesday, Oct 17th.

Tickets are available online, over the phone at (877) 987-6487, or at The Top Hat’s box office in downtown Missoula. RSVP to the Facebook event page to join the conversation and receive low ticket warnings. More information on the show can be found here.
