Video Feature: Brian Jonestown Massacre Performing Anenome at Glastonbury in 2014

Formed by notorious front man Anton Newcombe, Brian Jonestown Massacre has produced a rich catalog of music, releasing 17 albums since 1995.  Massacre’s sound and countercultural essence has been largely influenced by 60s psychedelia, their name even a partial nod to the late Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones.

Continuing the theme in 1996, they released Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request, again borrowing from the Rollings Stones album of almost the same name. Second Request features heavy psychedelic influences and uses over 40 instruments to create a vivid palette of sonic textures. One song in particular has stood out from the album.

The 10th track, “Anenome,” has become a cult classic within the hazier spectrum of musical genres and is a crowd favorite during BJM’s live performances. You can watch Brian Jonestown Massacre perform Aneneome at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival below.
