Greensky Bluegrass at KettleHouse Amphitheater
August 10, 2018
Festival storming bluegrass band Greensky Bluegrass just confirmed their headlining concert at Kettlehouse Amphitheater on August 10, 2018.
Formed in 2000 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Greensky Bluegrass kicked off their career playing living rooms and open mic nights across the Midwest. By 2005, they were touring nationally, and by 2006, they were playing the first in a long series of appearances at the annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Bandmates Hoffman, Bruzza, dobro player Anders Beck, banjoist Michael Arlen Bont, and upright bassist Mike Devol spent most of the following decade on the road, fine-tuning a live show modeled not after the toned-down production of traditional bluegrass music, but the full-on spectacle of rock.
Playing as many as 175 shows per year, Greensky Bluegrass have graduated to headlining status at some of the country’s most iconic venues, selling out amphitheaters like Red Rocks and world-class auditoriums like the Ryman. They’ve become a regular name on the festival circuit, too, adding Bonnaroo, the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Austin City Limits, Forecastle, and Outside Lands to their touring schedule.
In 2017, they released Shouted, Written Down & Quoted through their own label Big Blue. Equal parts dark, driving, and dynamic, the album is Greensky Bluegrass at their best, fusing the fiery fretwork of their live shows with the focus of a true songwriting outfit.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday, May 18th, and will be available at The Top Hat, online or by phone at (877) 987-6487. General Admission standing pit tickets, reserved stadium seating tickets and general admission lawn tickets are available. All ages are welcome.
Rodrigo y Gabriela at The Wilma
September 19, 2018
Acclaimed acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela will perform live in concert for the first time at The Wilma on September 19, 2018.
Since they left Mexico for Ireland in 1999, Rodrigo y Gabriela have established themselves as one of the most popular acoustic instrumental bands in the world. They have sold in excess of 1.5 million albums worldwide, and have sold out venues like the Hollywood Bowl, the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Le Zenith in Paris on numerous occasions.
2017 saw the duo celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their breakout self-titled album with a deluxe re-issue and extensive world tour during which they performed the album in full each night. They are currently writing and recording a new studio album.
SUSTO at Top Hat
July 25, 2018
Charleston-based indie americana band SUSTO will headline the Top Hat on July 25, 2018.
SUSTO is the brainchild of Justin Osborne. In early 2013 Osborne began performing solo in South Carolina & Cuba under the name of SUSTO. By August of that year SUSTO was performing as a full band. In addition to Osborne covering rhythm guitar, keyboards, & lead vocals, members include Corey Campbell (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Jenna Desmond (bass), and Marshall Hudson (drums, percussion) and Johnny Delaware on lead guitar & background vocals.
SUSTO released their self-titled debut album in 2014 and their second album I’m Fine Today in early 2017.
Bob Schneider at Top Hat
July 19, 2018
Touring in support of his forthcoming album, Bob Schneider will perform live at the Top Hat on July 19, 2018.
Schneider performs relentlessly, creates new music compulsively, writes poetry, and regularly shows his visual art in galleries around his adopted hometown of Austin, TX. Though he has received little national press or major label support, he has managed to become one of the biggest acts in Austin, if not in Texas. His fans, who often discover him from being brought to his shows by their friends, are fiercely loyal.
Many have attended dozens or even hundreds of shows. Thanks to these fans, Schneider has won more Austin Music Awards than any other musician, including Best Songwriter, Best Musician, and Best Male Vocals, rounding in at 54 total awards to date.
He’s set to release the new album, Blood and Bones – his 7th studio album since his 2001 solo debut Lonelyland – on June 8th via his Shockorama Records imprint.
Cold Hard Cash Show at The Wilma
August 25, 2018
Johnny Cash tribute band the Cold Hard Cash Show will perform live at the Wilma for their second time on August 25, 2018.
Fronted by guitarist and singer Merle Travis Peterson, The Cold Hard Cash Show brings to life classic Cash songs from the Sun & Columbia Records Catalogs to the modern American recordings, performing with the energy of the Live at Folsom and San Quentin albums with a sound so accurate you’d think you’re listening to The Man in Black himself!
In 2008 the band made their National Television debut when they performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, gaining a solid worldwide fan base and landing them on stages at several nationally known festivals such as Memphis in May Festival (Memphis,TN), Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (Sturgis,SD), Daytona Bike Week (Daytona,FL), Lonestar Rally (Galveston,TX) and Johnny Cash Festival- Roadshow Revival (Ventura,CA).
