The Reverend King’s Real Dream
In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we’re listening back on this great story from Tell Us Something in 2014.
The theme was “These Dreams” and the name of the story is “The Reverend King’s Real Dream”. It’s told by Pat Williams, who’s originally from Butte, MT. A University of Montana graduate, Pat went on to be a professor at U of M for sixteen years and also served Montana for nine terms in the US congress.
The story details a time when Pat had the pleasure of sitting next to Martin’s wife, Coretta Scott King, at a dinner party. Mrs. King told Pat about the development of Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech he gave at Lincoln Memorial in 1963. Listen to the whole story below.
Tell Us Something is hosting their first fundraising event at the Top Hat on Sunday, Feb. 9th and will also return to the Wilma for their next live storytelling event on Wednesday, Mar. 25th with the theme “Lost & Found.”
