Jeff Crosby & The Refugees will return to The Top Hat for a FREE show on Thursday, Aug 24th. The skilled singer-songwriter has continued to build recognition, playing festivals and shows across the country (including a show at The Hat last September).
The group has become known for Crosby’s powerful, emotive voice, which is accompanied by a warm, full sound from The Refugees. The result is a new perspective on Americana, potentially recognizable due to its use in Sons of Anarchy (see “This Old Town” below).
Crosby’s most recent album Walking Days brings in more soundscapes; still rooted in folk, 70s psychedelic rock, and Americana. The group will bring compelling musical material and a dynamic performance: a good option for fans of folk, rock, and country alike.

An 11-track album released significantly on July 4 th , 2014 and recorded in bothLos Angeles and Idaho, All Nighter is a powerful and cohesive record that deals withlove, loss, and a new perspective of the American Dream. Crosby now adds another notch to his musical belt with Waking Days. The 10 song LP was recorded in Los Angeles at Bedrock Studios and in Nashville and was produced by John Gilbertson and engineered in Nashville by Rob Matson. It also features his band The Refugees, plus Brian Whelan on pedal steel (Dwight Yoakam), Marshall Vore on drums (Ryan Adams/Olin & The Moon), Fran Breem on Drums (The Waterboys/Lucinda Williams), Ben Waligoske on guitar (Springdale Quartet) and Adrian Engfer on standup bass (Grant Farm).
Waking Days blends the sounds of Americana; folk, and 70’s inspired psychedelic rock. “I’m in a much different head space musically since the last record,” said Crosby, “This record has more soundscapes and has stretched out the atmospheric tones that are floating around the songs.”
