The Top Hat is happy to welcome back Missoula’s home-grown Josh Farmer Band for a FREE live performance on January 13, 2018.

The Josh Farmer Band have been bringing their unique blend of jazz, funk, rock, and soul music to the local scene since Fall 2011. The band has quickly gained a growing audience, regularly headlining shows at Missoula venues like The Top Hat, The Union Club, The Badlander, Sean Kelly’s, and Monk’s.

Their debut EP album was released in September 2012 and has gathered praise both for Josh’s original songwriting and for compelling instrumental performances by the whole band. The CD is available at Rockin’ Rudy’s and Ear Candy Music, or digitally through iTunes and the Facebook page’s Music Store.

The “Video EP” is a collection of music videos released in April 2013 that make up Josh Farmer Band’s second release. These videos are not intended to complement a CD release, but rather to present the new music in a performance setting, to see and hear this dynamic band as they truly are. The four short films of the band playing for a live audience of friends can be viewed on YouTube and Reverbnation.

With a message of unity, equality and love for a creative community, their exciting, one-of-a-kind, live performances are known to incite vibes of happiness and freedom. Let go through joyful dance and sing along while Josh and his band do what they enjoy most!

Sulphur Banks

Sulphur Banks Image

Comprised of Mackie HockettFiddlin Sarah Jean, and Kaylee Goins, Sulphur Banks is a trio built around rhythmic acoustic instruments and unexpected melodic harmonies. With haunting songs of love and relateable songs about whiskey, the three offer an engaging set of music and an energetic good time.

Mackie, Sarah Jean, and Kaylee first formed Sulphur Banks while Mackie was in Hawaii and had a (literal) dream of playing music with the other gals. Mackie contacted Kaylee, Kaylee contacted Sarah Jean, and before Mackie was back on Spokane soil, the three had already written three long-distance songs together. The next time the three were together, they spent hours swimming, drinking champagne, and writing music on Liberty Lake. By the end of their first night of rehearsal, they had a full set of music.

And in their eyes, if that’s not a good sign of a long-lasting friendship and musical bond, they’re not sure what is.
