The Top Hat is happy to welcome back Missoula-based indie rock, post grunge band Magpies live in concert on June 1, 2018.

About Magpies

Magpies are an indie rock, post grunge band from Missoula, Montana and have drawn comparisons to bands like Sonic Youth, Pixies and, “B-52’s meets Yo La Tengo”.

Since leasing their first demo in 2007-The Diablo Highway Sessions, they have continued to record and consistently tour for the past decade. Releasing Pica Pica in 2009, Pretty Big Time in 2012, a 2014 7” split with VTO,  2015’s Tornado and most recently Annex in early 2017.

The band was founded by husband/wife duo Tolan Harber- guitar, vocals and Samantha Pollington- bass, vocals. Rounding out the rest of the band is Hank Donovan on guitar and Aaron Soria on drums.

Sasha Bell Band

Known for her work with New York baroque ensemble Ladybug Transistor and later with indie folk revivalists The Essex Green, Sasha Bell is a multi-faceted performer and musician most heralded for her sweetly melodic vocals and lithe instrumentation. Her style invokes classic 60s groups and contemporary artists alike with a pop centric sound.

Tiny Plastic Stars

Tiny Plastic Stars is a Psychedelic Rock power trio based out of Missoula, Montana. Heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Portishead, and the modern psych-pop sounds of Tame Impala and the Black Angels. They bring a very interesting twist to the world of Rock and Roll. They have shared the stage with bands such as Megafauna, Backwater Prophet and the Spirit Animals. The groups debut record “Sleepy Eyes” was recorded at Levitation Studios. Full of thick tube driven guitar riffs, and drums ridding tight to the tape compressed ceiling, the records analog vibe seems to take the listener back to a simpler time in Rock and Roll.
