The Wilma and The Montana Department of Transportation are conducting an open house meeting to discuss the proposal to rehabilitate the Higgins Avenue Bridge over the Clark Fork River in Missoula on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. The meeting will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The Wilma (131 South Higgins Avenue). Project team members will be available during the meeting to discuss the project.

The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the bridge in a cost-effective manner by repairing or replacing the deteriorated elements of the bridge and provide improved accommodations for bicycle and pedestrian use on the bridge. The project is located within the city limits of Missoula on Higgins Avenue between the intersections of Front Street and 3rd Street West.

Proposed rehabilitation work includes replacing the bridge deck, repair and spot painting of the steel superstructure, replacing bearings, minor work on the concrete substructure units, and replacing the lighting. Proposed pedestrian and bicycle improvements include widening the bridge to the west side to provide for wider pathways on both sides of the bridge. The meeting is open to the public and attendance is encouraged.
