Just Announced: Railroad Earth, The Lil Smokies, Lettuce, & Umphrey’s McGee
They’ve all played in Missoula several times before, but each performance is more anticipated than the last. Whether you’re into bluegrass, folk, funk, jam, or anything in between, these four returning acts cover a broad scope of genres. Take a look at the all-star lineup below:
Railroad Earth – Jan. 11th
A long time favorite and frequenter of Missoula, Roots-Americana-based newgrass jam band Railroad Earth will return to The Wilma on January 11th, 2018.
The members of Railroad Earth aren’t losing sleep about what “kind” of music they play – they just play it. When they started out in 2001, they were a bunch of guys interested in playing acoustic instruments together. As Railroad Earth violin/vocalist Tim Carbone recalls, “All of us had been playing in various projects for years, and many of us had played together in different projects. But this time, we found ourselves all available at the same time.”

The Lil Smokies – Jan. 26th
Missoula’s hometown heroes The Lil Smokies will once again return to The Wilma on January 26th, 2018.
With their roots submerged in the thick buttery mud of traditional bluegrass, The Lil Smokies have sonically blossomed into a leading player in the progressive acoustic sphere, creating a new and wholly unique, melody driven sound of their own. The quintet, from Missoula, MT, has been hard at work, writing, touring and playing to an ever-growing fan base for the past 6 years.

Lettuce – Feb. 20th
Having sold out The Top Hat in 2015, progressive funk band Lettuce now returns to The Wilma for the third time in 3 years on February 20th, 2018.
For more than two decades, Lettuce have brought a new vitality to classic funk, matching their smooth and soulful grooves with a hip-hop-inspired urgency and mastery of beat. Now, on their fourth studio album Crush, drummer Adam Deitch, guitarists Adam Smirnoff and Eric Krasno, bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes, keyboardist Neal Evans, saxophonist Ryan Zoidis, and trumpet player Eric Bloom deepen that sound by channeling the sonic freedom and infectious energy of their incendiary live show.

Umphrey’s McGee w/ Russ Liquid – Mar. 14th
After a near sold out two-night run in Missoula, progressive jam rock band Umphrey’s McGee will return to The Wilma on March 14th, 2018.
After 18-plus years of performing more than 100 concerts annually, releasing nine studio albums and selling more than 4.2 million tracks online, Umphrey’s McGee might be forgiven if they chose to rest on their laurels. But then that wouldn’t be consistent with the work ethic demonstrated by the band, which consistently attempts to raise the bar, setting and achieving new goals since forming on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana, in 1997.
