May is Bike Month in Missoula
Did you know that May is Missoula’s official bike month?
The city of Missoula has proclaimed the month of May as Bike Month with the goal of tripling the number of bike commuters by 2045.
Not only is biking a healthy and fun way to enjoy all the beauty that Big Sky country has to offer, but it’s also a fantastic mode of sustainable transportation in contrast to car travel. Climate Smart Missoula reports that 37% of greenhouse gas emissions in Missoula come from cars.
We’re not saying to never drive your car (after all, Montana is a pretty big state), but if you can limit your car usage while saving money, having fun, being healthy, and decreasing your carbon footprint, why not do it!?
Also, biking is a great way to get to and from concerts, whether they’re at the Top Hat, Wilma, KettleHouse Amphitheater, or Ogren Park 😉
Don’t have a bike? Maybe now is the perfect time to visit one of Zootown’s local bike shops or stop by Missoula’s beloved community bike center, Freecycles.
To celebrate Bike Month, Climate Smart Missoula, Missoula In Motion and Pedal Missoula put together a month long celebration of all things bike featuring events, group rides and more! Check out the calendar of events here.
In the spirit of Bike Month, Logjam is currently participating in Missoula’s Commuter Challenge for Small Sized Employers. Learn more here.
