Listen Back: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at KettleHouse Amphitheater in 2019 (Full Recording)

The preeminent Grateful Dead tribute band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, made their debut KettleHouse Amphitheater performance on June 2nd. It was the first show of the 2019 Amp season and it’s already being hailed as one of the best shows of the year.

Some highlights from the show included a rendition of “New Speedway Boogie” (played for the first time this year), which transitioned into a lively take on “The Other One.” The first set ended with “Shakedown Street” and the second set picked up right where they left off with “Shakedown Street Reprise.” “Morning Dew” capped off the second set, which was a big highlight for a lot of folks. The one-song encore was a long awaited performance of “Promised Land.” It was the first time the song was played in nearly 50 shows.
