UM Jazz Ensemble to Join Lil Smokies for New Year’s Eve at the Wilma
The New Year’s Eve show with The Lil Smokies just got a great band added to the bill! Missoula’s very own UM Jazz Ensemble will serve as the opening act as we ring in 2020 on December 31st.
This unique support addition features talented student musicians with rich experience and a deep interest in jazz, performing challenging literature with an emphasis on newer, more contemporary music as well as traditional jazz classics. Some of the material has even been composed by the students themselves.
They’ve worked with several top musicians in the industry, including Phil Woods, Randy Brecker, Bill Watrous, Marshall Gilkes to name just a few. The NYE show will also be a fun way for the band to gear up for their trip down to New Orleans in March 2020.
The Lil Smokies and the UM Jazz Ensemble make up one heck of a local bill and we think it’ll be the perfect combination to throw a Roaring 20s party!
