The Lil Smokies Announce New Album “Tornillo”
Posted | Featured, Live Music, Local, The Wilma.
Montana’s beloved bluegrass band The Lil Smokies have announced their forthcoming album, Tornillo, will be released on January 24, 2020… just a few weeks after their big New Year’s Eve show in Missoula.
The namesake of the album comes from, Tornillo, TX, the town that houses Sonic Ranch Music Studios where the album was recorded. Sonic Ranch is known for being the largest residential recording studio in the world. Tornillo was produced, engineered & mixed by Bill Reynolds and the album art is by Andrew McGranahan.
This will be the Smokies third full length studio album and the followup to their live album, Live at the Bluebird, which they dropped earlier this year. Their self titled debut came out in 2013 and their sophomore effort Changing Shades came in 2017. They also released a string of singles in 2019, dubbed the SnowGhost Singles, which were all cover songs.
As mentioned, Tornillo, is slated to drop shortly after the Smokies concert at the Wilma on Dec. 31, 2019, so fans going to the NYE show can probably expect a couple early listens of songs off the new album!
