Son of alt country musician Steve Earle, and named after influential folk musician Townes Van Zandt, Justin has certainly embraced his Americana heritage over the years. His critically acclaimed, debut EP, Yuma, came out in 2007. Since then, he’s put out eight more albums. In 2009, he received an Americana Music Award for New and Emerging Artist of the Year.

His song “Harlem River Blues,” off the album of the same name, received an Americana Music Award for Song of the Year. 2012’s Nothing’s Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now, was ranked #37 on Rolling Stone’s list of the top 50 albums of 2012. Rolling Stone also had this to say about Justin: “The son of country-rock renegade Steve Earle has grown into a songwriter to rival his dad.”

Justin’s most recent album, The Saint of Lost Causes, was released earlier this year. Rolling Stone said the album “lives up to its title, serving as a refreshing reminder of what the songwriter has always done best.” Paste called it “his darkest, moodiest album yet, stretching beyond the implied limits of his chosen genre and deeper into the roots of Americana.”
