Get the full scoop and read below!
Continuing to take pride in its made-from-scratch kitchen, the Top Hat’s commitment to quality and creativity is unwavering, and this summer menu is no exception.
“This new menu celebrates the bright and fresh flavors of the season. We wanted to create a menu that was citrus-forward, featuring bright summery foods that would excite the palate and leave our guests & concert goers feeling satisfied and refreshed. From the vegan Al Pastor Jackfruit Tacos to the gluten free Spanish Paella and the indulgent Huckleberry Panna Cotta, every dish has been carefully crafted and selected, staying true to the Top Hat’s dedication to providing unique and diverse flavors to the Missoula community. We had a lot of fun with these new dishes, and we can’t wait to share our latest creations with you!” – Head Chef, Rosie Gutierrez
This is the largest menu expansion that the Top Hat has had in years, boasting 4 new appetizers, 2 new salads, 4 new sandwiches, 3 new tacos, 4 new entrees, and 3 new desserts. Here’s a quick glance to tease your tastebuds.
The perfect appetizer to share with friends (and appropriately named as such), Los Tres Amigos Dips features bowls of elote guacamole, white bean queso and smoky bacon salsa served with house-made corn chips. Rosie, along with Sous Chef Barett and Kitchen Manager Kilah, took responsibility to each master one of the dips and they turned out superb. Other new appetizers include the Ancho-Raspberry Burnt Ends, Smoked Salmon Crisps and Spicy Caramel Chicken Bites.
Screaming summer, the Pomegranate Pesto Salad is a colorful, light and refreshing option, featuring spinach mixed greens, pistachio pesto, marinated baby cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, crushed pistachios, and white balsamic pomegranate glaze. Longtime server, Macy, actually brought the original recipe to the kitchen and worked with Rosie to make this exceptional salad. The other new salad is a hearty, entree-worthy Herb Roasted Chicken Cobb.
If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, the Pepper Jam Chicken Club is a must-try, featuring red bell pepper jam, grilled Redbird chicken, dressed mixed greens, avocado, bacon, medium cheddar, garlic aioli, and your choice of side. Other new sandwich additions include the Spicy Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and Veggie Melt. Or try the Lingüiça Pepper Hoagie made with lingüiça sausage, Mama Lil’s peppers, onion, pepper jack cheese and sweet heat chili sauce. The hoagie is the first of a series of rotating sandwiches that the Top Hat will be rolling out over the next couple of months.
New tacos include the vegan, gluten and dairy free Al Pastor Jackfruit Tacos, vegetarian Curried Potato Tacos, and Yum Yum Shrimp Tacos. Even if you’re someone who usually prefers meat but are willing to be adventurous, the Top Hat highly suggests you try the jackfruit which is very similar to the texture of chicken.
Moving onto the entrees, one that really sticks out is the vegetarian Red Lentil Dal with red bell peppers, raita, cilantro, red fresno peppers, ginger garlic chili oil and naan. Rosie said the kitchen had to experiment with this recipe a lot to get it dialed in, but the end result is a delicious blend of rich flavors. Other marquee entrees are the gluten and dairy free Spanish Paella and Thai Peanut Noodle Bowl, and the sea food and pasta lovers dream come true – Salmon Limone Linguini.
Last but not least, the Top Hat’s tempting dessert additions include Blood Orange Tres Leches Cake, Huckleberry Panna Cotta, and Plantain Split.
It doesn’t get much better than that… except it does, because the Top Hat’s outdoor patio is now open! That means you can enjoy all these tasty new dishes and your favorite beverages outside in the fresh air while you take in the joyful buzz of downtown Missoula.
Speaking of beverages and buzz – we didn’t even get into all the great new wines and special cocktails the Top Hat is unveiling with the new menu!
We’ll save that for another time, but should also let you know that the Top Hat’s boozy slushie machine is up and running! Tis the season for frozen margaritas!
